One year down...

My first year in the tundra has been pretty darn great! I have had a lot of fun. I have been really cold! I have put together a top ten list of the things that I have learned in the frozen tundra.
1. I LOVE BYU-Idaho!!!So
I don't think I can say that enough! I love BYU-Idaho! I love the teachers! I love the students! I love the atmosphere! I love the learning! I love it!
2. I'm so excited to be a teacher!
I think going right along with loving BYU-Idaho is the fact that I'm so excited to be a teacher. I think being in school, and actually learning the techniques of being a teacher really has shown me that I want to be a teacher! I'm just so excited to actually be in a school, and teach.
3. I'm not a huge fan of Rexburg.
So Rexburg... haha. I think we have a love hate relationship. It's cute. It's small. It's cold. It's Rexburg. Well I think it's more of a my school of choice is there so I think I'll stand you because I love the school.
4. Roommates are key!
Roommates! Another one of those things that is a love hate thing you know. You love them. You hate them. Then you love them again. I think I have had everything this year when it came to roommates. I have had the quite the social the geeky the awesome the fun the not so fun. The one thing that I have noticed is they just haven't been the like the roommates in Provo. I miss those girls!
5. The Library is Key
HAHA me the library sometimes I spend way too much time there and sometimes not enough. That is what I learned that the library is really a fun place. I just need to have the motivation to get there.
6. Working full time going to full time not such a good idea.
When I moved to Rexburg I had a great job... but that didn't last long. Let me tell you why full time work and full time school not a good idea. It was a great job, but this is the first time in 3 years I have not worked full time and I love it!
7. You only live once.
I think I have always know this, but I'm living it now. I had a friend tell me the other day that she loves how I just go for it. I decided this year to just go work for Disney. I decided to just quit my job. I decided to just leave Provo and go to school in the frozen tundra. You only live once, so why not just do you want at least you will be happy.
8. The best thing in the world is progressing.
So the big thing that brought me to the frozen tundra was progression. I just felt like I wasn't progressing in life. I decided to pray about it, and guess what I'm progressing now. Probably not as much as I want to, but I have goals to help with that. I love moving forward! I don't know everything that is on the path, but I do know that I'm going on the path and I'm moving forward. I love that!
9. Rexburg pedestrians are not the brightest
enough said. I hit one the first day of fall semester. I got frustrated with them on daily. They just aren't the brightest.
10. The difference between want and need.
I think for a long I have really wanted certain things, so I thought of them as a need. Now I think that has changed. I think about the stuff I thought I needed, but I'm good. My Dad kept asking me what I want, and I kept say I don't need anything. I'm good. I think my perspective has changed. I don't need what I want anymore.

Well there is my list. One year down, and I'm super excited for the next year. I'll hopefully keep you a little more updated, because next year will be a lot more fun.

Drum Roll Please.... DISNEY

So as some of you may know I'm going to be working at Walt Disney World, but some of you have no idea how this came about. Well let me tell you how all this came about. It was the beginning of the fall semester, and like most college students I was getting burnt out. I'd been in Rexburg for what it felt like forever, and decide that I can either just plow through school or do something else. As this idea came into my head I also had the idea man I really want to go to Disney Land again. hmmm Disney thats interesting. Wouldn't it be cool if I could just live at Disney Land forever. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! Then I though well why not. I could work there. Yeah why not. So I turned to my best friend... google. I soon found out that they have this college program thing. I looked into it even more, and talked to some people. After thinking about it for I deiced that I needed to be responsible and just plow through school. After a few week of this responsible think I thought well why not I'm just going to try whats the worst that could happen. WELL I GOT IN!!!! Screw winter semester it's too cold in Rexburg I'm going to DISNEY WORLD!!!!!! So that is how this all happened!
Wait I know what will I be doing there. OK get this I get to run one the rides! So cool right! Let see I don't think there are any other lingering question, but if there is just let me know. I'm super excited as you can tell by this awesome video!

Time, Time, Time

So it is almost time for a lot of things right now... such as:
The end of the Semester
Going to Utah
Going HOME!!!!
Christmas
New Years
Working at Disney World
Going to Florida
Going on my longest plane ride.
hmmm I think thats it.
Since all these changes are coming about I thought that it might be a good time to blog, and maybe be constant with blogging. (not making any promises)
Ok so first I love BYU- Idaho! I have absolutely loved my first year back in school. I'm so excited to come back and finish my degree! I know when I left Provo I was not too excited about Rexburg, but it's really not that bad. It kind of grows on you. I knew when I came here that this was the place for me and it still is. I have learned a lot! (more to come on that)
With how happy I'm here I'm even happier to be leaving. I'm very happy because on my way home I'm going to make a stop in UTAH the land that I love! I never really thought about how much I loved living in Provo until I left. I miss my old roommates. I miss Karianne! I miss all the things to do! I miss some of my old co-workers! I just miss Utah! That being said I'm so excited to go down there for a little while.
HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME! HOME!
HOME!HOME!HOME!HOME!HOME!HOME!HOME!HOME! enough said.
I'm excited for Christmas.
I'm excited for my traditional Irish New Years!
Ok Disney! I'm going to be working at Disney. (more to come later)
Because of Disney Florida and the longest plane ride.
MAN I'M SO EXCITED I COULD DIE!!!!

Some like to be heard...

So first I have this theory that some people in life like to be heard... well I'm not one of those people I simply like to do. I have found that in my life time I repeat myself a lot.. because either no one is listening or no one can hear me. I don't know why it is like this, but it is. And I guess to compensate I find myself just doing. I'm totally fine not talking, even though I REALLY LIKE TO TALK.... AND ONCE I START I WON'T STOP... AND WHAT I SAY CAN BE VERY FUNNY AND WISE... BUT... I'm perfectly happy doing. I'm happy serving people. I find myself much happier serving you than talking to you. SO if you find me off in the corner away from everyone else making you food (which is what I do most).. cleaning... or serving you in some way.. just know that this is my way of tell you "you are special".

Second it has been a while. My life has changed a lot. I finished the semester with good grades, but it was hard. So i deiced to quit my job. My last day is the 15th. A little sad, but I' excited for the future. I also got a part time job on campus. I'm very excited about that. I start on September 1st. My roomies moved out, and I got new ones which I LOVE!!! It has been non stop go, and I like it.

Third I really want to blog more often so we are going to see how this works. I still need to finish my picture challenge and I need to kick off Tip Tuesday. So I guess great things to look forward to.

Tip # 3 The Libary

So Tip # 3

It is a must to spend some time in the libary to survive the frozen tundra!

I have recently started school again. It's kind of interesting. I know how the whole school thing goes, but you still have to get use to it again. One thing that I have come to realize the first full week of school is I can't just go home right after class. I need to go to the liabry. AND if I must go home then I CAN NOT HANG OUT!!! OR FACEBOOK! OR HULU! Well I think you can tell I haven't got very much homework done this week. That is all going to change!!!

As for my first two tips:

#1 Enjoy you weeks as much as your weekends... I have not told myself in a long time "I just want it to be the weekend" so that's a good sign.

#2 Goals... yeah kind of not going so well. SO I have made so new goals and mainly thats to do my homework. I'll let you know

Day 20- A picture of somewhere you'd love to travel.

ITALY!! ITALY!!! ITALY!!!!

I think we have already went over this, but just to refresh your memory.

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Italy!!! It just seems so pretty!! And so much History!!! And I really like pasta!!

I seem to do this A LOT...

So another long awaited blog post, because once again it's been a while. I have a good reason though. I moved, I started school, and did I say I moved. Well moving is a big deal for me. I have a lot of stuff. It takes a while...Good news is I'm moved in. I have great roomies (pictures will follow). AND I started school. Let me tell you here in the frozen tundra they make you work for your degree.

Alysa and Ariel

We were hiding from Annelise

Megan and Makayla
I'm not sure what they are doing...

Annelise
We Love Olive Garden

So our first night all together we went to Olive Garden in Idaho Falls. It was A LOT of fun!! We pigged out on bread sticks. Broke a few laws. Mainly me sitting in the back with out a seat and so no seat belt. Went to the mall. And Laughed. Laughed A LOT!! GOOD TIMES!!

I have missed a few Tips and Technique Tuesdays, but hopefully I will get my bearing with school and start posting my great tips and techniques.

Day 19- A Picture of You When You Were Little

Man I was cute!

This is right after my sister and I deiced to cut each others hair. Doesn't it look great! She did a good job!

No what anyone says overalls are always in fashion.

Ok look closely... No front teeth and my ear rings have fruit on them. Ohh and a turtle neck... and if you saw the belt you would see an awesome heart belt buckle. Man I was so Fashionable!

Tip #2

So Saturday is Tip Day...

And our Tip for this week... well I had a tip but I think this one is way better. For anyone who knows me they know that I have a problem.

I am always making goals.

Some might say I have an obsession. I blame that on a year and a half of doing nothing but making goals.
Not a bad thing I know.

So My tip this week is make goals.

I find myself always making goals here in the frozen tundra. I don't know if that's because I don't have anything else to do or because I'm trying to some what start over. Of course I have a few goals for this week.
I'm moving into a new apartment, so I need to pack and UN-pack.

I'm also trying to be a lot more productive with my time. I'm trying not to just sit on the couch and watch TV.

I'm sewing again. I'm trying to finish my quilt before I move.

I will give an update next week. Speaking of updates my tip from last week. Love my week not only my weekends.
It went GREAT!!

I didn't think once man I just can't wait for this weekend. I was excited for every new day to come, and what was in store for me that day. I got up earlier and was a lot more happy.

GREAT TIP!!

Let me know if you tried my tip and if it helped at all.

Day 18- A picture of your biggest insecurity

Like most women my biggest insecurity is my weight. That's enough said.

Technique Tuesday

Day 17 A picture of something that has made a huge impact on you life recently.

Well to say the least moving has made a huge impact on my life recently. Maybe today is just one of those days, but I just miss everything.

I miss my family.

I miss my friends.

I miss Washington.

I miss Utah.

I miss.

The frozen tundra is great and all, but I love where I came from, and I love the people that are there.

I also wanted to give you an update on my tip. I haven't thought once this week man I can't wait for the weekend. That is great right? Well it's only Wednesday. I'm also thinking of some great things for my next tip.

Lastly not only are we going to have Jamie's Tips, but every Tuesday will be Technique Tuesday. There are a lot of things that I want to learn in life. So I'm going to make a list and figure it out. Then I will tell YOU how to do it too. If you want to learn a technique let me know and I'll totally figure it out. ooo this will be fun.

Jamie's Tips

Ok so I have done a little bit of a re design. AND I LIKE IT!!!It took me a while but I now know the inter workings of my blog, and she is beautiful.
Have you ever felt like your just living for the weekend?
Well it seems like have I caught that sickness. What is so wrong with the week? It is the bulk of our lives, and I know I'm not the only who just wants the weekend to come. Sure a lot great stuff happens on the weekend.

Examples sleeping in, do nothing all day, church, travel, not driving 45 minutes one way, grocery shopping, hanging out, etc.

SO idea...
How can we make our weeks more like our weekends? Well the reason why I like my weekends is because i get out of my everyday routine and get into my every weekend routine which i don't do that often. WELL what if I do somethings that I enjoy doing on the weekends during the week? For example I love grocery shopping. I know weird well I think its because I like shopping, but never the less why don't I shop on like Tuesday? OR have a game night on Thursday. OR Have people over for dinner on Wednesday?ALSO choose a time to get up everyday so then you never sleep in, and you get more out of your day. I don't know why this bothers me so much. I know that there are people out there who don't have this problem because they are already doing this.

But right now my life is get up go to work get home from work and sit there.

That's life in the frozen tundra.

My goal is to change how I look at my week, and be excited for the week.

Maybe I'll make this a weekly event and call it Jamie's Tips. Everyone needs to know how to survive the frozen tundra, so I'll tell you my tips and what I've learned.

Jamie's Tip #1

Be excited for your week not just you weekends.

I must not forget

Day 16 A picture of someone who inspires you.

This is the pioneer woman. And she is amazing. I think she is very much experienced what I want to experience. She has done the whole big city and cooperate job, and now she lives in the middle of no where and raises her four kids. I very much love where I came from, maybe not the city its self but the life style. I look back and now know that i wouldn't not be the type of person that i am if i didn't grow up on a farm. I learned a lot from the farm. But I went to the big city and LOVED IT!! I think about it everyday. How I want to be surrounded by people and malls and IHOP... but I'm not. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to IHOP. The pioneer woman has some how combined her two worlds and makes this amazing life that some how some way I want. I want the big city but with country feel. She is an amazing cook, she home schools her children (not that I would want to do that but props to her), she blogs, she is a photographer. She inspires me to do better in everything that I do. I do have one more inspiring person ... I think she says it best. If she can go through life and have the perspective that she dose then why can't I. One of my many goals in life is to be like these woman.

Have you ever noticed that you just can't help but be happy when your there. I will soon post pictures so you can see all of our adventures. I also signed up for classes! I'm SO excited for school to start. Just a short 28 days away.

Day 15- A picture of something you want to do before you die.

I want to travel! I have so many place I want to go.

Top 10 list of places Jamie wants to go before she dies.

1. Italy- This has been a life long goal, and I WILL get there.

2. Georgia- You have to go some where in the south, and I figure I might as well go to the dirty south. Plus Paula Deen.

3. Ireland- My mother country. And it's green like every where.

4. London- Just for fun.
5. Paris- Eiffel Tower Baby! and maybe Mona Lisa

Day 14 My Parents and an Update

Day 14 A Picture of Someone you could never Imagine your Life Without.

My Dad and Mom. The two best people I know. Of course I wouldn't be here without them. I'm just so glad that they are my parents. I know that I was not an easy child to deal with, but they always raised me with style. My Dad probably one of the most giving people I know. If you ever need anything he will be there. He has been through a lot and continues to go through a lot everyday, but he always tries to be happy. And he is always proud of his girls. My mom is very giving as well, but you better watch out because sometimes she can be a firecracker. That's where I get it from. I love it though. She knows what she wants and she will get it. She also very proud of her girls, and is always willing to give advice. My parents have had to sacrifice a lot for my sister and I, but they have always been there in one form or another. I'm so very grateful for them and their examples. I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO IMAGINE MY LIFE WITHOUT THEM.

So now how about an update because it has been a while. Well I'm going to Disney Land!!! Ohh I'm so excited!! I get to go with one of my old room mates and best friends Lori and her Mom. We are going for almost a week. We are going to the beach and shopping, and it will be like 75 degrees!!! I have also made some other interesting decisions about school. I have decide to major in Business Management instead Elementary Education. I realized why am I going to get a degree I'm not going to use. right? Since I'm already doing business management kind of I might as well just get my degree in it. Yeah that probably it for now. I'm so excited for school to start, and to go to Disney Land of course.

Day 13... LADY A!!!!!

Day 13- A Picture of your favorite Band or Artist.

OHHHH MYYY GOOOSSSHHH IIII LLLLOOOVVVEEE LADY ANTEBELLUM

First I love all oh their songs. I could probably sing every song by heart.

Align Right

Second I believe that on a few guys can pull off beard, and let me tell you these guys can.

Lady Antebellum. I know weird name, but let me tell you where it comes from. First Antebellum meas "pre-war". The band chose it from the type of architecture. It all came about when they were photographing the houses in the south, an one of the group members saith there is a band name in there. So Lady Antebellum was born. Another interesting fact Charles Kelley is the brother of pop star Josh Kelley. Hilary Scott tried out for American Idol two times, and didn't even make it past the first round. The band has been nominated for 43 major award and has won 27 times. The band started in 2006. And they are in the process of recording their third Album!!!

Day 12 Ohh How I Love Thee

Day 12 A picture of something you love.

I love lots of things. But here is just one.

Kassie Furniss.
She is ...

The wind beneath my wings...

And BOY OH BOY do I miss her...

The top ten reasons why I love Kassie
1. She would ALWAYS invite me to go with her to anywhere. You could always count on a Wednesday night invite to country dancing... and me always saying no. But then next week another invite.
2. Her amazing ability to no matter the situation take a picture.
3. She is always willing to help.
4. SMOOTHIES!!!
5. Best taste in clothes, and always willing to share.
6. If you don't know where is you might want to check her room, she might be doing the facebook lean...HAHA good times.
7. Sis
8. Dollar movie tradition
9. Makes you feel good about yourself even if you think you are the scum of all the earth.
10. Scaring her is probably the best thing on this earth. You should try it. When she comes out of the bathroom hide in the dark and jump out, so much fun!
11. She is always happy
12. Wise beyond her years.
13. cheese cake and grape salad.
oops i was suppose to stop after 10. well she is just so great I couldn't stop. I love you Kassie Furniss!

Plus and Minus = Surviving the Frozen Tundra

So for the surviving the frozen tundra side of things. I have learned a few things

1. The snow here is very fluffy and sticky

2. I have learned that if you are stuck just put some cat litter under the tires like magic you can get out from a parking spot that is covered with solid ice. (Thanks Mom) ohh and who knows how long the ice has been there because it is so stinking cold that it never melts.

3. Snow Plows are non-existent here. BOOOOO BOOOOO BOOOO not very happy about that.

4. While driving to work today I realized hey everyone has a truck... yeah so they can get out anything without a problem.

5. I happy just sitting in my house with five layers and a coat on for hours.

6. six blankets and a hoodie sweater is just enough to keep me warm at night.

7. Boots are not an option no matter how ugly you think boots are.

I'll end there.

So this last week it has snowed three times. The first one wasn't so bad because Mark my roommates boyfriend cleaned off our cars for us. How nice right. BUT it just started to get worst I had to clean my car off the next time and I don't have anything to do that with so I used what Heavenly Father gave me (my hand/arm, and a piece of paper). It really wasn't that bad. The most awful experience ended with me calling my mom and her telling me to put cat litter under my tires because i had been spinning my tires for 25 mins. Let me tell you burning tires is not a pleasant smell.

Not to end on a bad note so other things I have learned about the frozen tundra

1. My roommate is AWESOME!!!

2. I LOVE my job!!!

3. Having dinner at Amiee's house is so much fun and everyone should do it. You get real food which I don't really get to have very often. You play with two really cute kinds and you get to hang out with Amiee.

4. BYU-I is AWESOME!!! I can't wait to start. Can I just start now please?...

5. Even though I don't get to see Kass and Lor everyday. I get to call them (sorry if I call too much) ALL THE TIME! Love It!!!

SO all in all it equals out right?... HECK YES!!!!

Day 11 Dancing

Day 11- A picture of something you hate.
Something I hate. That would be dancing. I should clarify. I don't mind organized dancing. The type of dancing that is all the same like a waltz or routine. I really actually like that dancing, but the dancing that most people do i just don't get it. The as one friend put it "Jersey Shore" dancing I can't stand it. I just don't understand why anyone would go in front of a group of people and just start moving around like they are convulsing. Maybe because I feel like an idiot when trying to dance like that. Actually I kind of fell like more people would like an idiot too, so they stop dancing.

This would be me trying to dance "Jersey Shore" style. See it just doesn't work.

This isn't something that has just happened. I have always hated dancing. I fact most of the time when I would go to a dance or a club I would just make fun of people and how they dance. This will most likely be a life long hate. I'm sorry all you dancers out there.

Do you see the little blonde girl going "on man just get me out of here" yeah that's me.

Ohh and what the heck is up with when ever I go to a dance the creepers will always be the ones to ask me, and only the creepers. Maybe because I have this sign that I wear that says "Hey if you are a creeper ask me because I love to dance". Maybe someday someone will change my mind but as for now I'm sorry I would rather eat cow poop than go dancing.

Jamie has now stepped off her soap box. You may go on with your day now.

Day 10... Lor Bor

Day 10- A Picture of the person you do the most messed up things with

Well I like my rules and I stick by them kind of... so I don't really do messed up things. Man I sound lame. I do have LOTS of fun though. SOO who do i have the most fun with...

That would have to be LOR BOR!!!

From going to Disney Land to dancing around the apartment having sleep overs and who could forget crawling through the tunnels at my old bosses house. we had the most fun anyone could have. Yes she is probably the thing I miss about Provo the most.

Monday, February 7, 2011

Day 04 - A picture of your night.

WOW I have really been neglecting my blog... :( How did this happen well to make up for it I'm going to put all the days in one post and then stay on track. SO... Day 4 my night... Valentines Day... Single... In a city I don't really know anyone... SOO what do you do... Have chocolate and strawberries with your roommate and her boyfriend. YUMMM! That was my night. ohh and Sleeping Beauty.

Day 5 A picture of your favorite Memory

Ahh that's easy ...

My Baptism!!! I just remember being SO HAPPY that day. My face hurt so bad because I was smiling so much. June 12th 2003 changed everything. I am the way that I am because of that decision. Best day ever!!! Is it just me or do I look really little...

Day 6 A Picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

hmmm this one is not so easy... BUT I would have to go with Lily from How I Met Your Mother. Not the Actress that plays her, but Lily, and let me tell you why:
1. She was a red head that went brunette. Opposite of me just saying.
2.She is a master conniver. She plans, She strategies, She completes her mission.
3. She is married to a pretty great guy.
4. She is a teacher.
5. She is a great person.

Yeah Lily... I would be Lilly! and Barney is Awe...wait for it... some!

Day 7 A picture of your most treasured item
That would be my BED!! To describe my bed:
1. Not only one mattress pad but 2 baby yeah that right 2. One just normal egg crate, and one feather down awesomeness. You say soft ok if you can't say that then say squishy.
2. My cute little friends. Piggy I was sent her when I was on my mission. Sister teddy given to me by the same great friend before I left for my mission. Teddy given to me on my 18th birthday by some different friends. and lion given to my by my trainer when I wasn't a coward any more, so no more cowardly lion.
3. the layers... sheets favorite sheets. given to for Christmas from my sister Patty. She had them monogrammed and everything. (funny their you should ask her how to spell my middle name.) 1st blanket patch I have had him since I was 5. I got to pick him out my self. He has lots of holes, but the warmest blanket ever. The only time I did not sleep with him since I was 5 was a year and a half when I was serving the Lord. Hey sometimes you have to sacrifice. 2nd blanket Birthday present from mom that I picked out and paid for... well she paid me back. Thanks mom still love it. its just so cute. I see it more in the summer, which leads me to 3rd blanket. DOWN COMFORTER. on sale $15.00 wal-mart. Then the end blanket top from lor bor this years Christmas present. Next Bees blanket. Last but not least another Christmas present for a really good friend and it is monogrammed too. SO all in all 6 blankets 2 pillows 4 friends and most of the time 2 books and some sock here and there that fell off during the night. hehe

WOW that is A LOT about my bed, but I truly do love it. I could spend forever in it. AND the best part is it always comes with me. Just as Aunt Carol taught us you never leave home with out you pillow.
Day 8 A picture that makes you laugh

SUMO KASSIE!!!! ENOUGH SAID!!!! HAHAHA!!!

Day 9 A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

OK this would have to be people who have gotten my through the most because there is a lot of them...

Bonnie, Amiee, and Karianne. We have been through A LOT! I will ALWAYS be there for these girls no matter if I have to fly across the world I will be there.

Sabrina! She has dealt with A LOT my my crap, but she has always been there. A true friend who was there when I didn't have one. We have had a disagreements, but somehow she has dealt with my crazy view and ideas. She was probably the one who saw me at my worse... coming down from a mission high.

Christine is loyal even if you think she wouldn't be. We became really good friends when I didn't have any. She's been there from my baptism to me coming home from my mission. She has even worked for my parents. She has seen a lot of sides of me and I think my favorite one that she brings out is the me that is always laughing.

LOR BOR!!! Roommates by chance... wait no she picked us out of everyone she interviewed. She helped me make one of the toughest decisions... do I move to the frozen tundra? OOPPS I got a little behind ...

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest.

This is a hard one because I have been close with a lot of people, but who have I been close to the longest?

Karianne, Bonnie, and Amiee
It all started in elementary school. The year is up for debate. Karianne and Amiee were some of my greatest friends in my eyes, and then Karianne had to deiced she hated me. What was I to do... Well I found other friends but they just weren't as cool and Karianne and Amiee. Fast forward to my freshman year of High School I was going to be friends with them whether they liked it or not. It worked! Soon Bonnie moved to the blessed state of Washington. Still to this day we hang out and are great friends. They have given me the greatest gift. They have been there for some of the hardest times of my life. I have been in all of their weddings. Its been 8 years, and they are still my best friends! I LOVE THEM!!!
