Week 2 Training

Ok so this is going to be a lot of information about Disney all at once. The last place that I left off was traditions. I didn't have my orientation for my park for a few days, so I went and played at the parks. I went to all four parks in y first week which was a lot of fun. I first started to rank the parks, but have found out that is impossible to do. I love all the parks equally, but have found out the best times and ways to visit the parks. First don't plan on spending all day at Epcot. Don't get me wrong it is a great park but there is NO shade so it is much better to go at night. Second Animal Kingdom has a lot of shade so go in the morning. Then leave a whole day for Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. Always get fast passes for Toy Story early (that is the ride I work at so trust me) they always run out. You can catch most of the charters at Epcot and the lines aren't that bad. Also there is a place in the Animal Kingdom called Camp Mickey that has a lot of characters too. Which brings me to shows you definitely want to see The Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom. Go see The American Idol Experience in Hollywood Studios and the Laugh Floor in the Magic Kingdom. Then there are the rides there are so many i couldn't even begin to tell you which one to go on, so I'm going to try and tell you about a ride a day. The first ride I tell you about will be Toy Story Midway Mania which is where I work. GREAT RIDE!! It is a great ride for the whole family. It is a 3-d interactive game/ride. What happens is you get into a "vehicle" and you spin to different scenes. Once you get to a scene you stop and shot at different objects to to get points and who ever has the most points wins. I can't tell you how much fun this ride is. First the line is filled with all sorts of good stuff like an talking Mr. Potato Head giant crayons tinker toys and board game ceilings. Then you actually ride the ride and it is so much fun. I don't ever get tired of it.
So now i'm going to tell you the rest of my training experience. Well I had training for Hollywood Studios a few days after Traditions. Basically we went around the park and learned all about the Hollywood Studios. After that we talked more about the four keys, and then did some e-training. I also found out that I would be working at Toy Story. I had a few more days of... so more playing at the parks. Finally I started actually training at my job. My trainer was so awesome her name is Emma, and I trained with another girl named Brittany. It was basically the most intense four days ever. We went through everything that we could about Toy Story. Then I had an assessment and I was on my own. That was training.

Day 3 at Disney

Once again better late than never...

Day three ooo this is a fun day… Traditions day. Ok so this day isn’t really that great, but you get your park pass and you name tag. You do get to learn a little Disney history, and the future, but it’s just another long meeting. We also learned the four keys, and if you work at Disney at any point the four keys are your best friends. Everything at Disney is based around the four keys. Basically how all this works is you go to Disney University, and they split you in groups. You go to a conference room, but before you go in to the conference room they give you the “golden ticket” you employ ID or gate pass. After that you learn the four keys, hear some cheese joke, then they take you on a tour of the magic kingdom. There of course is a lot more to this tour but those are secrets I can’t tell you everything. Then you go back to Disney University for more training and then at the end you get you name tag. After Traditions we planned on going to the Magic Kingdom, but that didn’t work out so Netflix and I hung out. Day three was long enough said.

Day 2 at Disney

Ok so this a little late but better late than never right...

Day Two well this is a day that I pretty much got to myself, but I still had a ton to do. First I had to go to a housing meeting, because I got in so late the day before. The meeting was boring. They just pretty much just talked about our housing. I live in Chatham. It is the second complex that was built, so the second nicest complex. It’s pretty just a run of the mill apartment. Here is the cool thing though; so all the BYU kids live together (it’s apart of their contract between Disney and BYU) so since I arrived late I got the last BYU apartment. The apartment is a six bedroom apartment so 12 girls are suppose to live there. Well on the first night there were only three girls, but I just figured they would move more girl… nope not yet. Basically I have my own room and my own bathroom! SCORE!! After the housing meeting I needed to go to Wal-mart, so I got on the bus with my roommates and some other girls that we met from BYU-I. Ok I have never really not had my car, so I’m not to sure how to grocery shopping without a car and let me tell you there is technique. It is more time consuming, but worth it are you listen it is call take more than one trip. I just went grocery shopping like I normally did… big mistake! I had like ten bags and my fingers were like purple from the lack of blood due to the weight of those bags. Also another tip take an empty suite case. After that I hung out with my great friend Netflix. I got bored really quickly so I decided that since I couldn’t go to the parks yet (you don’t get you park pass until Day 3 or you go through Traditions) to go to Downtown Disney. I invited a couple of people and the next thing I know there is 20 of us at the bus stop. It was a great night! We just walked around took tons of pictures and just got out. That was my Day 2. Pretty uneventful but I had a lot of fun, and learned I don’t like the bus for grocery shopping.
