7 Week Break/ Summer

Finally it is the 7 week break (up here in the Frozen Tundra that means summer). I have deiced to stay in the Frozen Tundra for this break, because first I have a job and second it the best time of the year here. During this time of year it's not really that frozen and there are a lot of fun things to do. I have a lot of plans for this break, but like all plans that I have we will see if they happen. Here are some of my plans:
- Float the River
- Take 3 math tests (I know, I know it's a break, but I have to take them now or I will have problems later. Plus I have put it off long enough)
- Drive- In Movie
- Monkey Rock (it's this really cool water fall thing I think)
- Mesa Falls
- Work on my quilt (hopefully finish it)
- Work Out
- Study for the PRAXIS (my certification test that I will be taking in the fall)

Those are just some of the things. I want to stay outside as much as possible, because it will only be warm for so long. I have already done on of the things on my list and that was go to Park City with my family and my friend Brooklynn. It was a great weekend. Here are some pictures:

Brooklynn and I right before we left for Park City in our shades

Broolynn made biscuits for us on Sunday. They were SO good!

Look what we found on our Sunday walk. It was this awesome play ground, and Brooklynn just couldn't stay away.
Patty giving her a little push.

 Coolest swing ever!

She is even climbing in a dress.

 My turn!

This was the weirdest toy, but hey she looks like she know what she is doing.

My turn! Oh wait I can't stay on this thing. I don't like this!

AHH! How do you stay on this thing.
 Maybe it will work?

Nope! I'm doing this my way!

Let me show you. Then she does it with ease once again, but I like my way better.

ooo a new swing thingy. Doing it with ease once again, and in a skirt.

 Don't forget the photographer!

Maybe I can make this one go!

Nope! What the heck I don't like this park anymore.

Once again I have to do it my way. But it works!

 Look at those clouds!

 Sisters climbing the jungle gym.

We look like we are having a good time.

I just want to climb this thing!

 ERRR I CAN DO IT!

The reason why I'm so happy in this picture is because my feet are on the ground.

This was the highest I got.

Next day Mom get friendly with the locals of Park City.

Us making our way up Main St. in Park City! (look closely Brooklynn and Dad seem in to be in a deep conversation, but I'm just looking in the stores seeing what I can buy next)
Dad didn't want to be left out so he became even friendlier with the locals.

I found my new man. He is super cute right!
Even the leg pop! Don't you just love his hat!

It was a great weekend! It was so nice to just relax after the semester, and to hang out with the fam. We were missing on member of the family, so Amy your coming next time!

Craft Projects

Ok so I'm kind of obsessed with this thing called Pintrest. Some of you might have heard of it, but one thing that I have learned from Pintrest is that I can spend hours on it and do nothing with it. I want to change this. One of my friends from school has come up with this really neat way to prevent this from happening. She has a board on Pintrest that is tried it and loved it, so I'm going to do my own version of  this. My friend does it with food, but I'm going to do this with crafts. I'm going to go through my craft board and  come up with my top 7 projects and do one a week for the 7 week break. Here is a first draft list that will be narrowed down:

- Extender Slip
-Floating Lanterns
- Old Large Sweater
- State Outline
- Pleated Pillow
- Wreath
- Paint my Kitchen Aid Mixer
- Beaded Bracelet
- Paper Star
- Skirt
- String Lamps
- Yarn Letter
- Tinted Mason Jars
- Tutu
- Jars with Chalk Paint labels

Those are just a few choices... I'll probably narrow them down this weekend, and then start next week.

Week 2 Training

Ok so this is going to be a lot of information about Disney all at once. The last place that I left off was traditions. I didn't have my orientation for my park for a few days, so I went and played at the parks. I went to all four parks in y first week which was a lot of fun. I first started to rank the parks, but have found out that is impossible to do. I love all the parks equally, but have found out the best times and ways to visit the parks. First don't plan on spending all day at Epcot. Don't get me wrong it is a great park but there is NO shade so it is much better to go at night. Second Animal Kingdom has a lot of shade so go in the morning. Then leave a whole day for Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. Always get fast passes for Toy Story early (that is the ride I work at so trust me) they always run out. You can catch most of the charters at Epcot and the lines aren't that bad. Also there is a place in the Animal Kingdom called Camp Mickey that has a lot of characters too. Which brings me to shows you definitely want to see The Festival of the Lion King in Animal Kingdom. Go see The American Idol Experience in Hollywood Studios and the Laugh Floor in the Magic Kingdom. Then there are the rides there are so many i couldn't even begin to tell you which one to go on, so I'm going to try and tell you about a ride a day. The first ride I tell you about will be Toy Story Midway Mania which is where I work. GREAT RIDE!! It is a great ride for the whole family. It is a 3-d interactive game/ride. What happens is you get into a "vehicle" and you spin to different scenes. Once you get to a scene you stop and shot at different objects to to get points and who ever has the most points wins. I can't tell you how much fun this ride is. First the line is filled with all sorts of good stuff like an talking Mr. Potato Head giant crayons tinker toys and board game ceilings. Then you actually ride the ride and it is so much fun. I don't ever get tired of it.
So now i'm going to tell you the rest of my training experience. Well I had training for Hollywood Studios a few days after Traditions. Basically we went around the park and learned all about the Hollywood Studios. After that we talked more about the four keys, and then did some e-training. I also found out that I would be working at Toy Story. I had a few more days of... so more playing at the parks. Finally I started actually training at my job. My trainer was so awesome her name is Emma, and I trained with another girl named Brittany. It was basically the most intense four days ever. We went through everything that we could about Toy Story. Then I had an assessment and I was on my own. That was training.

Day 3 at Disney

Once again better late than never...

Day three ooo this is a fun day… Traditions day. Ok so this day isn’t really that great, but you get your park pass and you name tag. You do get to learn a little Disney history, and the future, but it’s just another long meeting. We also learned the four keys, and if you work at Disney at any point the four keys are your best friends. Everything at Disney is based around the four keys. Basically how all this works is you go to Disney University, and they split you in groups. You go to a conference room, but before you go in to the conference room they give you the “golden ticket” you employ ID or gate pass. After that you learn the four keys, hear some cheese joke, then they take you on a tour of the magic kingdom. There of course is a lot more to this tour but those are secrets I can’t tell you everything. Then you go back to Disney University for more training and then at the end you get you name tag. After Traditions we planned on going to the Magic Kingdom, but that didn’t work out so Netflix and I hung out. Day three was long enough said.

Day 2 at Disney

Ok so this a little late but better late than never right...

Day Two well this is a day that I pretty much got to myself, but I still had a ton to do. First I had to go to a housing meeting, because I got in so late the day before. The meeting was boring. They just pretty much just talked about our housing. I live in Chatham. It is the second complex that was built, so the second nicest complex. It’s pretty just a run of the mill apartment. Here is the cool thing though; so all the BYU kids live together (it’s apart of their contract between Disney and BYU) so since I arrived late I got the last BYU apartment. The apartment is a six bedroom apartment so 12 girls are suppose to live there. Well on the first night there were only three girls, but I just figured they would move more girl… nope not yet. Basically I have my own room and my own bathroom! SCORE!! After the housing meeting I needed to go to Wal-mart, so I got on the bus with my roommates and some other girls that we met from BYU-I. Ok I have never really not had my car, so I’m not to sure how to grocery shopping without a car and let me tell you there is technique. It is more time consuming, but worth it are you listen it is call take more than one trip. I just went grocery shopping like I normally did… big mistake! I had like ten bags and my fingers were like purple from the lack of blood due to the weight of those bags. Also another tip take an empty suite case. After that I hung out with my great friend Netflix. I got bored really quickly so I decided that since I couldn’t go to the parks yet (you don’t get you park pass until Day 3 or you go through Traditions) to go to Downtown Disney. I invited a couple of people and the next thing I know there is 20 of us at the bus stop. It was a great night! We just walked around took tons of pictures and just got out. That was my Day 2. Pretty uneventful but I had a lot of fun, and learned I don’t like the bus for grocery shopping.

Disney Day 1

I get off the plane in Orlando; next I have get my bags. This was a little tricky because there was no signs nothing you just kind of follow the heard of people. Well I guess you have to ride a tram to get to bags so I do. Then you go downstairs and find your baggage claim that they do have signs for. So if you are going on the Disney College Program they suggested booking a shuttle with Mears. Well let me tell you my experience with Mears. I AM NOT A FAN! Ok so on their website they don’t really tell you how to find them but you go downstairs again then you find their little kiosk and type in your confirmation number. Your ticket prints out and you go outside. Ok so this whole time that I’m getting my ticket and checking in with the lady outside they are telling me it will be 30 minutes or less. With and emphasis on the less. Well guess how long I waited 45 freaking minutes! The only reason why I got on the bus when I did was I was going over to yell at the lady for making me wait so long, and she remembered me. NOT HAPPY WITH MEARS! I think it would be totally ok if they didn’t promise me 30 minutes or less. Anyways moving on so I’m now on the bus to Disney. The Disney College Program has certain times when you are to check in (from 9am to Noon) well in one of the emails I received from them it said that if your flight arrives after 10:30 you would not make it to check in’s before noon. Well my flight was originally going to arrive at 10:51, but we got in at 10:21, so I thought I was good I was going to make it on time (but then stupid Mears made me wait FOREVER). I got to check in’s at 12:10. It was kind of funny though because this was the best time for me to get there, and let me tell you why: 1. No long line at check in’s. 2. No long line at casting 3. NO LONG LINES! I had some friends that came like first thing in the morning and they had to wait in line at check in’s. Then it took them 4 hours to go through casting, and it only took me two. I guess moral of the story its ok to be like 10 minutes late. In it works out to your advantage to be just a little late. So like I said I went through check in’s really fast. Check in’s is just where they assign you where you will be living, and give you your housing ID. DON’T LOSE YOUR HOUSING ID. It gets you on the bus and in your apartment complex so don’t lose it. They also give you your program guide, which is like a planner with TONS of info in it. Then right as your done they tell you about your next couple of days. Now that is only check in’s I’m not done with the first day, because next I went to casting. Casting is where you turn in all you work paper work. They also tell you where you will be working. This is a long process. After you are finished with casting you go back to vista way get your bags if you are in a different complex and take your bags to your apartment. Then the rest of the day is yours. After un-packing a my roommates and some friends were super hungry so we walked down the street and got some food. That was pretty much my first day. I only have 2 other roommates. We thought we would be getting more today, but guess not. That's ok because I have my own room and bath room!

Ok so let me tell you a few tips. They have you leave your bags at vista way when you check in and go to casting, but they don’t want you leaving your lap top, so if you are going to bring your lap top don’t put a lot of stuff in the bag it’s in, because it gets heavy after like 3 hours. Make sure you really look at you apartment number. I know in Chatham which is where I live they have building numbers. So the apartment number is the first number is they number of the building then the second number is the floor of the building then the last two is the actual apartment, so don’t do what I did and go to the wrong building and carry your bag up three flights of stairs. This is an in general rule for everything you do at Disney for everyone bring snacks. Like everywhere. There are lines and you will be there for a long time so just bring snacks they are your friend.

Just wait for day two it gets really exciting!

Well I'm Here!

Ok so I made it to Disney! Let me just tell you a little about my travels. So first my Mom and I drove the three hours to Seattle (stopped for breakfast with my sister in Ellensburg). Once we were in Seattle we went to Pike's Place, Shopping (ohh did we shop), and ate at Souther Kitchen (yummmmmm!). Now for the exciting part the flying and arriving. I got on my plane around 11pm. Oh my gosh longest flight EVER!! Well it felt like that. I think I slept for maybe a half an hour. The plane that I was on had those little screens in the seat in front of me so I just kept watching TV. I got to Detroit and went to my gate, but no one was there so I decide to go get some breakfast. As I was going through the airport trying to find some place to eat I kept hearing birds. Ok so this airport had birds in it. OHHH my gosh the airport had birds in it. YEP IT DID! I still can get over it. I just thought it was SUPER cool. So I got my Mickey D's and went back to the gate and waited another like hour. Got on the second plane and flew to ORLANDO. Let me tell you about the little girl that I sat next to on my second plane. She had just turned two, and for you parents out there you would know that you have to start buying plane tickets for your children when they turn two. Ok so this little girl didn't want to sit in her seat, and the seat belt didn't even fit her so dumb I don't know why they make you buy plane tickets for them. Anyways the only way to get her to sit down was if I thats right ME a total stranger read her a book. I felt so bad for her grandma though because she just wanted to read to her grand daughter and her grand daughter just wanted me to read to her. It didn't matter after a while though because I passes out for about two hours.
So this is how I got here. I will tell you what I did next (such as check into Disney) in my next post.

Update and the Start of Disney!

Ok so the last time I posted it was right before Christmas, and not a whole lot has happened since. Actually I have been kind of bored. I really have just been spending a lot I mean a LOT of time with my Dad, which is ok because he says the funniest things. I have also hung out with my sister Patty a lot too. We had Christmas which was fun. I got an iPod which is going to be great for my trip. The only problem is I have TOO many CD's. I know old school right, but they work so who cares. ANYWAYS iPod and a new camera another great thing for my trip. AND new suite cases I think this Christmas was planned around Florida. Which reminds me of a funny story, so my sister Patty was opening her presents. As she was opening them my Dad, Mom, and I were all going that's for Florida and that's for Florida, basically everything was for Florida. Then just more hanging out driving to and from Portland twice. Playing Ticket to Ride with my friend Karianne and her family. More hanging out. New Years with Aime P. Who is great! Oh and my boys I got to hang out with my nephews. More hanging out. I have done a whole lot of nothing for like three weeks and I'm going just a little crazy. I ate a lot of pie too. Facebook has become my best friend because it responds and updates itself. Did I mention that I have been hanging out a lot because I have.
Now the fun part going to Disney. I leave Sunday morning at a still undetermined time (waiting on Mom for that one). I'm flying out of Seattle (a city that I LOVE!!!!). So it takes about 4 hours to get there. It's only me and my Mom on this trip (I'm a little sad my dad isn't going he is just so much fun). I'm sure we will have fun. I will sleep she will drive well that is how it always goes. She will try and talk to me and I will sleep. She will drive. That's why Dad is good he will talk to her while I sleep, because that is what I do in the car is sleep. I want to go to Pike's Place Market because once again I LOVE IT! I don't care if it's not that exciting in the winter it's Pike's Place. Then we will have dinner at Southern Kitchen in Tacoma SO GOOD!!!!! SO SO SO GOOOOOOOD! Then ti the airport I guess. So the flight plan is this I' taking a red eye, so I don't even get on the plane until like 11:30, which is way past Jamie bed time. Next I fly to Detroit I think I get there around like 6:30 which is 4:30 Washington time (oh boy). Have a little lay-over then back on the plane to ORLANDO!!! Get into Orlando around 10:50 get my bags take the shuttle to Disney check in, AND THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!!! I'll take lots of pictures and maybe even a video. BUT DISNEY HERE I COME!
