Disney Day 1

I get off the plane in Orlando; next I have get my bags. This was a little tricky because there was no signs nothing you just kind of follow the heard of people. Well I guess you have to ride a tram to get to bags so I do. Then you go downstairs and find your baggage claim that they do have signs for. So if you are going on the Disney College Program they suggested booking a shuttle with Mears. Well let me tell you my experience with Mears. I AM NOT A FAN! Ok so on their website they don’t really tell you how to find them but you go downstairs again then you find their little kiosk and type in your confirmation number. Your ticket prints out and you go outside. Ok so this whole time that I’m getting my ticket and checking in with the lady outside they are telling me it will be 30 minutes or less. With and emphasis on the less. Well guess how long I waited 45 freaking minutes! The only reason why I got on the bus when I did was I was going over to yell at the lady for making me wait so long, and she remembered me. NOT HAPPY WITH MEARS! I think it would be totally ok if they didn’t promise me 30 minutes or less. Anyways moving on so I’m now on the bus to Disney. The Disney College Program has certain times when you are to check in (from 9am to Noon) well in one of the emails I received from them it said that if your flight arrives after 10:30 you would not make it to check in’s before noon. Well my flight was originally going to arrive at 10:51, but we got in at 10:21, so I thought I was good I was going to make it on time (but then stupid Mears made me wait FOREVER). I got to check in’s at 12:10. It was kind of funny though because this was the best time for me to get there, and let me tell you why: 1. No long line at check in’s. 2. No long line at casting 3. NO LONG LINES! I had some friends that came like first thing in the morning and they had to wait in line at check in’s. Then it took them 4 hours to go through casting, and it only took me two. I guess moral of the story its ok to be like 10 minutes late. In it works out to your advantage to be just a little late. So like I said I went through check in’s really fast. Check in’s is just where they assign you where you will be living, and give you your housing ID. DON’T LOSE YOUR HOUSING ID. It gets you on the bus and in your apartment complex so don’t lose it. They also give you your program guide, which is like a planner with TONS of info in it. Then right as your done they tell you about your next couple of days. Now that is only check in’s I’m not done with the first day, because next I went to casting. Casting is where you turn in all you work paper work. They also tell you where you will be working. This is a long process. After you are finished with casting you go back to vista way get your bags if you are in a different complex and take your bags to your apartment. Then the rest of the day is yours. After un-packing a my roommates and some friends were super hungry so we walked down the street and got some food. That was pretty much my first day. I only have 2 other roommates. We thought we would be getting more today, but guess not. That's ok because I have my own room and bath room!

Ok so let me tell you a few tips. They have you leave your bags at vista way when you check in and go to casting, but they don’t want you leaving your lap top, so if you are going to bring your lap top don’t put a lot of stuff in the bag it’s in, because it gets heavy after like 3 hours. Make sure you really look at you apartment number. I know in Chatham which is where I live they have building numbers. So the apartment number is the first number is they number of the building then the second number is the floor of the building then the last two is the actual apartment, so don’t do what I did and go to the wrong building and carry your bag up three flights of stairs. This is an in general rule for everything you do at Disney for everyone bring snacks. Like everywhere. There are lines and you will be there for a long time so just bring snacks they are your friend.

Just wait for day two it gets really exciting!
